Hermoso y provocador conjunto de narraciones, donde se recorre un arco muy amplio, que va de escenarios cubanos actuales, o más alejados en el tiempo, (como los llamados «Déjà Vou» o  «Brindis») a otros que no sólo nos trasladan a Europa, sino a medios, situaciones y épocas como las del escritor Emilio Salgari, o el pintor Rembrandt, o la enemistad surgida entre Hemingway y Dos Passos, amigo y traductor del segundo, a causa del fusilamiento de Luis Robles durante una de las purgas de la Guerra Civil Española. La prosa de Morelli es siempre adecuada y exacta, y en este libro sorprende, además, por su gran versatilidad. La hechura del libro no deja que desear, pues se corresponde en sobriedad y buen gusto al contenido. Merece destacarse el atractivo del diseño de portada.
