He aquí, por vez primera, una pequeña antología en edición bilingüe, de la poesía de Gastón Baquero, (una de las voces más altas en lengua española) en una traducción exquisita y ajustada al original, de Kurt O. Findeisen, con la colaboración del editor, Rolando D. H. Morelli. Los textos han sido tomados de dos colecciones: Canciones de amor de Sancho a Teresa, y Memorial de un testigo, que representan aspectos contrastantes del hecho poético baqueriano. El nombre del volumen que presentamos procede de uno de los poemas de este segundo grupo, la canción “Para Berenice”, uno de los poemas más conmovedores del conjunto, y posiblemente de todos cuantos escribiera el autor.

This unique offering is a bilingual edition with an exquisite, loyal translation of the original by Kurt O. Findeisen in collaboration with the editor, Rolando D. H. Morelli. The texts have been selected from the collections, Sancho Panza’s Love Songs for Teresa and The Witness’s Brief, each representing contrasting aspects of the “Baquerian” poetic work. The title of the volume comes from a poem of the second collection, one of the “Halcyon Songs for Bernice,” which is perhaps the most moving poem of this group and possibly of all the poet’s work.
